Drugged Driving Summit Will Address Challenges of Marijuana Use

AAA, the Nebraska Trucking Association, and the Nebraska Department of Roads and Office of Highway Safety are hosting a traffic safety summit focused on the impact marijuana and prescription drugs have on driving abilities, traffic enforcement and the legal system.  The event will be held at the Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln on Tuesday, December 8, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  Highway safety groups, law enforcement, probation, county attorneys, public officials and transportation safety educators are invited to attend.  To register, visit www.transportation.nebraska.gov and enter Drugged Driving Summit in the search engine.  Each year, over 10,000 people die on our nation’s roadways as a result of substance-impaired driving crashes.   In Nebraska, between 2011-2014, 58 people died in roadway crashes related to drugged driving.
